Track Descriptions

THE USE OF TRACKS IS TO BE CONSIDERED AN AID FOR LEISURE NAVIGATION. IT CAN CONTAIN ERRORS AND CANNOT SUBSTITUTE FOR THE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT CHARTS. ONLY OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT CHARTS AND NOTICES TO MARINERS CONTAIN ALL THE INFORMATION NEEDED FOR SAFE NAVIGATION. IT IS THE USER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT PRUDENTLY. IN NO EVENT SHALL  ROBERT SHERER BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. 

After all, conditions on the ICW change. What worked at the time of the track may not work later, especially at the inlet crossings. Always check Waterway Guide Alerts for the latest conditions before use of a track for a given area.

All tracks can be downloaded in one file which also includes the elusive Halloween track from Sisters Creek to St Augustine which has been corrected for the track across the St Johns River to the south.

Homer Smith in Beaufort, NC to Topsail Island Marina in Surf City, NC. Very shallow from R6 to past G11, down to 5.7 MLW at R10A (deepest close to R10A per track).  Browns Inlet 9.2 MLW least see. New River at 5.7 MLW least seen by R74 but I rounded the corners, more if you go straight in by R74.

Surf City to St James Plantation south of Southport, NC. Lots of fine tuning by going out of the channel at times to find deeper water. Many areas at 8 to 10 make. Lowest seen was 7 MLW on track.

Heritage Plantation to Awendaw anchorage (just after McClellanville). Least seen was 4.4 MLW briefly between G37 and R38, 4.7 MLW seen several times. Track meanders to follow the deepest water, follow it closely. Least seen in Minim Creek was 7.3 MLW - but follow track closely, easy to find shallows there and at McClellanville.

Awendaw to Charleston Maritime Center through Isle of Palms. McClellanville 4.4 MLW least, Isle of Palms 4.5 MLW least.

Charleston to B&B Seafood (Just north of Ashepoo-Coosaw Cutoff). 5.4 MLW Dawho, dredge still there, 7.7 MLW Watts Cut, 10.4 Fenwick Cut. Track wanders in Dawho to avoid dredge.

B &B Seafood to Windmill Harbour Marina. Fenwick Cut 10.8 MLW minimum, Ashepoo-Coosaw 7.2 MLW minimum at southern exit.

Windmill Harbour Marina to Kilkenny Marina. Wall's Cut 9.3 MLW min., Fields Cut 7.3 MLW min. at north entrance. Elba Cut 9.3 MLW min., Hellgate 3.5 MLW min. Between G89 and R90 (just for an instant, many 4 to 5 MLW spots.

Kilkenny Marina to Crescent River Anchor. No shallows unless you don’t follow the track. All deeper than 8 ft MLW. Usually much deeper. The track deviates pff the magenta line a lot in several places but the track is good.

Bethune Part in Daytona to Titusville Marina. Least seen 6.0 MLW by R2 at Ponce de Leon (the 40R2, R2A pair). R18 at Ponce de Leon was 14.1 MLW (it’s been dredged since spring)
